If I Could Talk to the Animals
Founded in 1828 as the London Zoological Gardens, the London Zoo was created originally for purely scientific study. Part of the project of imperialism, the zoo was opened to the public in 1847.
Today the zoo focuses on conservation, running breeding programs for endangered species in cooperation with other zoos worldwide.
