Whitechapel and the Ripper Murders
Tour of London’s East End, home to one group of immigrants after another over the past three centuries: first Huguenots, then Irish, then Eastern Europeans, and now Pakistanis and West Indians. In the late 19th century, these streets were the haunt of Jack the Ripper. Our tour will focus on the evolving sociology of this neighborhood.
Please make a point of arriving ON TIME. It won’t be easy to catch up with the tour once we depart. Meet outside the Whitechapel Gallery, 77-82 Whitechapel High St, London E1 7QX. Tours take place at 6pm and 8pm on 7/1 and 7/2. Speak to your Rhetoric prof about which tour you’ve been assigned to.
