Tour the fabulous streets of East London
We are going on a walking tour of East London, a working class neighborhood that’s seen wave after wave of immigrants over the past three centuries: Huguenots, Irish, Eastern Europeans, Pakistanis, West Indians. In the late 19th century, these streets were the haunt of Jack the Ripper. But in recent decades the’ve drawn attention for the work of graffiti artists. London street art is often political and almost always inventive. It provokes thought and wonder.
Meet outside the Shoreditch High Street station at 3pm. Recommended route: take the District Line from Gloucester Road to Whitechapel Station, then switch to the Overground to Shoreditch High Street Station (the Overground portion of the trip is only one stop). Alternatively, you can opt to walk from the Aldgate East station on the District line, but it’s a bit of a hike.
Please make a point of arriving ON TIME. It won’t be easy to catch up with the tour once we depart.
